20 minutes

Just a quick update from David via cell:

Miche was with Steve all day and although pain meds continue to cause delirium, Miche had 20 good, lucid minutes with Steve.  Steve was present, aware of what has happened, and they were able to really connect during those 20 mins before Steve went back on a new mix of pain meds.

Steve also had his first physical therapy evaluation today and there are encouraging signs.  We do not want to get too detailed here as everything is still very early; the next surgery awaits; and Steve is still in immense pain.

The family remains profoundly grateful for your continued prayers and messages of comfort and encouragement.

    Dear Michelle and Steve,

We've been following the websites daily and praying often for you both from our tiny island. This morning, our women's Bible study took time out to pray for Steve's recovery. Several of the women remembered you from the visit here a couple of years ago and even those who didn't recognized the need. I know your days are full of question marks right now–but we're so glad that in the midst of pain and questions, you know the Answer.

    Blessings! Mary Johnson, Guam

Steve and Michelle and family, as I prayed for you all today, these passages from the Word came to my mind to share with you. May God's grace and comfort; compassion and love overflow

2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Lamentations 3:22,23, 24 – “Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail, they are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness. I say to myself 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

In prayer and deep empathy for you and with you

    Dear Jesus,
Thank you that you are holding Steve, Michelle, and each of their boys in the palm of your hand. Thank you, loving Father, that you love them with an everlasting love. Thank you that in the midst of the storm You are there…on their boat…with them, saying, “Fear not..it is I.” Jesus,we praise you and lift up your name declaring that You are God and You are good and that You love Steve. You have a perfect plan for his life and we cling to your word which says that “He who began a good work in [Steve] will be faithful to complete it.” You are at work. Help the family to see glimpses of what you are doing. I pray that You would make your Presence so palpable in the hospital room that those who don't know you would sense Your holy presence. I pray that You would breathe your perfect peace in that place, in Jesus name. I pray against anxiety, fear, anger, depression, and hopelessness in Jesus name. We bind that fear in the name of Jesus and command it to be gone. We declare that You are in control and You have the power to completely heal Steve…to make his body right. So I pray in Jesus name that you would heal his spine. I pray that you would reduce the inflammation. I pray God that you would do a mighty healing that would baffle the doctors and nurses. I pray that he would receive full restoration of usage of his arms, wrists, hands, and feet. I pray God that you would completely restore his fine motor skills and movement in his fingers. I pray against further illness, fever, and other complications. I pray that your Holy Spirit would whisper words of love and comfort to Steve's heart that would bring him such a peace that everyone who sees him would proclaim Your goodness, God, your mighty power. I pray for his surgery. I pray it would be successful. Give his doctors great wisdom and discernment. Bless their hands, I pray, as they operate on Steve. I pray that during surgery, Jesus, that you would make your presence known to Michelle and the entire family, even the little ones. May they see you, Jesus, sitting with them…waiting with them. Jesus, we trust You to do a miraculous healing work in Steve. Thank you for what you will do. Thank you that you are in control. In Jesus mighty name. Amen

you will continually be in my prayers! maybe I should change my speech language pathology degree to occupational therapy and then I could help Steve recover……but i know prayers are just as effective.

    Hi Michelle,

Don't worry too much about Pastor Steve delirious state. I remember when my father went through surgery, he too got a load of pain killer that caused him to be act funny. Sometimes, our brains react differently on certain drugs. The doctors did change the medicine and he responded much better with the new medicine. We will continue to pray for Pastor Steve.
